Are you playing the same game I am, or am I missing something here?

The package comes with a FPE temp account code which you can use to create a temp FPE account, which will also be purged after 14 days/10 hours of game play.

The 14 days/10 hours limitation seems to be only negatable by purchasing and adding a permanent account code to it, the preview characters and items will remain "locked" but accessible again upon retail release.

It's possible to unlock skills/items through PvE as well.

And adding a retail key does make the temp account permanent, but if the idea of creating a temp account was because your original retail account already has 4 characters, you would end up with 2 seperate retail accounts.

Making a temp account permanent seems to only appeal either those who'se never purchased the original GW Ch.1, or intend to have 2 seperate accounts after the preview event.

ok another question: are just the free acounts limited to 10 hours, or do paying accounts have this limit too?
and also, if the preorder gives you this stuff, can you use slots in your new preorder account to play this event and therefore play over the 10hour limit?

My guess is if you hog all three of the self-invites, you can technically play up to 30 hours... but thats alot of playing for 1 just week if you ask me

Thanks for clearing up about the Chapter 1 Collector's Edition So, natural question leading on from that, is there going to be a C.E. version of Chapter 2 as well?

I'd be interested to find out what will come with the Collector's Edition for chapter 2. Hopefully there will be a full list of versions and what comes with each version (normal retail, pre-order and Special Edition) as it was kind of confusing trying to find out beforehand

Sorry about the confusion. What I meant is unlocking by faction. Although one can unlock through PvE, I doubt there would be much of the opportunity to get unlocks during this event. So the most practical way to unlock things is through PvP faction. And I assume if you care about unlocks, then you must have a free PvP character slot to use your unlocks, otherwise, the unlocks are irrelavent.

You get confused about the 14 day/10 hour trial, which applies to the original GW, not Factions. All the access keys to the preview event have no time limit during the event.

Read the press release carefully:
Quote:
Entry into the beta event will also be available through the Guild Wars Factions pre-order package, which will include the Guild Wars Factions (GWF) pre-order CD, a GWF beta access key, a "friend" key that allows access to the beta event, a 14-day, 10-hour trial key for the original Guild Wars game, a tactical guide, and a quick-reference card.

Hmmmmm.........I'll hold fire on the enthusiasm until I get more info. Not particularly bothered about pre-order/collectors items to be honest. Nice and a good way of getting more cash (for Anet) but I'm not into flim flam ect (unless it's extra character slots or storage space - then count me in). Yeah, definately need more info. I'm hoping it's not going to run smack into the Oblivion release date.

The 10 hour or 14 days key in the pre order is for new players to try chapter 1 and not chapter 2 and the beta access key is seperate from it and will last the weekend as will the 3 invites.

*forever beat me to it, I should of refreshed*

I'm not sure if anyone posted this in this thread or a new thread, but there is a Factions Preview Event FAQ on official website. Link is herehttp://www.guildwars.com/events/faq-...eviewevent.php

Nope, according to the FAQ for the event it says you wont be able to.faq-factionspreviewevent

Will I be able to bring my existing character to the continent of Cantha and play through the Factions Campaign missions?

Although such travel will be accessible after the release of Guild Wars Factions, during this beta testing weekend, we will not be supporting character travel between the continents of Tyria and Cantha, or between the Battle Isles and Cantha. Also, there will be no vault storage agents available on Cantha, so there will be no way to transfer items between characters.

I think the reason behind this is that not all the current player will buy GW:Factions. For those who don't buy, playing their existing characters in Cantha would mess up their record. So the FPE is actually taking place in a perfectly isolated world (aka Cantha), all the newly created PvE characters cannot interact with the existing world in any way, so Anet can safely wipe out all the data after this event.

I assume it will last that whole weekend like usual. But strangely enough there is no information about this as far as I know.

Even though I do not currently PvP, that doesn't mean that I won't someday. The unlocks are important to me simply because I like to accomplish as much as I can, similar to doing all the bonus missions. My hope is that I will get another slot with the Factions purchase, and it will be my PvP'er.
